Understand the process of scaffold assembly and can identify all materials and components necessary for the safe erection of scaffolds. Inspect scaffolds and scaffold components for visible defects or other abnormalities that could affect the integrity of the scaffold system. Read, comprehend and interpret instructions.

Move material and equipment to work locations and set up the work site. Plan work activities. Demonstrate a working knowledge of tools, materials and equipment associated with the craft. Maintain tools and equipment. Participate in job site analysis and help identify potential hazards and participate in action plans designed to mitigate identified hazards. Complete all required documentation. Observe and abide by all safety rules, policies and procedures. Perform other duties and activities, sometimes in other crafts, as required by Zachry Supervision. Observe good housekeeping practices.

This position requires call out, off-hours and overtime support as needed.

Job Requirements:

Scaffold Builder I – Also considered Journeyman level.
Scoring required at or above the cut score of the NCCER Certified Written assessment.
Pay range will coincide with this classification as represented in the most current contract (or Amendment) between Monsanto Company and Zachry Industrial, Inc.
Top pay rate at this level also requires successful completion of the NCCER Performance Verification assessment.

Must be able to read blue prints, plans, and drawings proficiently to perform duties.
Must have knowledge on materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
Must be able to computer basic arithmetic functions.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be able to work full work schedule and any additional overtime with little to no notification.
Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
Must follow all company and site rules and regulations.
Must have required tools.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER) certification for Industrial Journeyman Carpenter.
Formal/Technical education.
Experience working with scaffolding, insulation, and painting.

Reporting to:

This position does not have any direct reports; however the position will work closely with and oversee on occasion of helper and labor positions. The position will hold a positional and expertise authority of the helper and laborer positions.

Physical Requirements

Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
Will talk and hear to communicate.
Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull:  objects, materials, controls and tools.
May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, work off of platforms and man lifts, and may occasionally work out on an open structure using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots.
